The conference was first held in 2012 and proved to be the main professional industry forum in Russia and the CIS for discussing all the issues of legislative regulation of airport and aerodrome design on the level of state and business, a place to share the experience of the leading international experts regarding airport design, building, reconstruction and operations.

As part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum a panel session was organized, called "Russian Aviation: Definitive Development Strategies". The partner of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum for preparing the panel session was the Center for Strategic Development in Civil Aviation (AVIACENTER).

The project is implemented as part of the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation from 16/01/2013 #1, at the basis of which lies the Program of Developing Regional Air Transport in the Volga Federal District for the Period up to the Year 2025, prepared by the Center for Strategic Development in Civil Aviation (AVIACENTER) in 2012.

In the foresignt session wrap-up the summary report on the issues of strategic development of air transport has been delivered by Anton Koren, the CEO of the Center for Strategic Development in Civil Aviation (AVIACENTER)
