Anton Koren on the Russia 24 TV channel discusses the impact of the MS-21 aircraft's production on the Russian Federation's economy. 28.10.2025 00:00
October 28, 2025, marked a significant event for aviation industry experts: the second import-substituting prototype of the Russian MS-21 aircraft took to the skies from the Irkutsk airfield of the Yakovlev Aviation Plant. New domestic systems and PD-14 engines were tested on board. The flight was successful. About the MS-21 Certification of the import-substituting MS-21 aircraft is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026, after which the first aircraft will enter serial production, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov previously announced. The MS-21 is a domestically developed short- and medium-haul passenger aircraft designed to replace the A320 and B737 on the Russian market. Anton Koren, General Director of the Center for Strategic Research of the Civil Aviation (AVIACENTER) and Head of the Transport Strategy Center (TSC), spoke on the Rossiya 24 television channel about the impact of the MS-21 aircraft's production on job creation and the emergence of orders for related sectors of the Russian economy. "The creation of the aircraft is a major model of cooperative cooperation, creating new jobs in Russia. The entire industry, including civil aviation, will shift to servicing domestic, rather than Western, equipment. Taking into account multipliers, the added value is high, and each job created during the operation of the M-21 will create approximately 12 jobs in other sectors of the Russian Federation," Anton Koren stated.
